Informational
Workshops
As a three-time flood victim who owns property on the Delaware River
in Columbia, New Jersey, I am writing to the Commission regarding
the Delaware River Basin Commission’s (DRBC) proposed Flexible
Flow Management Plan (FFMP).
I request that the DRBC hold Informational Workshops for my community
on the proposed changes contained in the FFMP and the proposed changes
in the Water Code.
These Informational Workshops need to be held so that the confusing
and complex changes that the FFMP proposes can be reviewed in detail.
I request that these Workshops be held in each of the five sections
of the River, (Tailwaters Section, Upper Section, Mid Section, Lower
Section and Estuary Section). Please hold these Informational
Workshops on a Saturday so that the people who cannot take off work,
can attend.
Public input has value; and the only way people can intelligently
comment is if these workshops are held. The will of the people
must be considered and factored into any resolution and rule-making
that takes place concerning this River. For we, the people, are
not wayward children who are not smart enough to understand the issues
and the facts. We, the people, do not abdicate our rights for self
determination, what is equitable, just or fair concerning the allotments
of water from the Delaware River.
It is because you value the Public Process, which is a large part
of why you even exist as an agency, that I know you will take my request
to heart and consider granting it.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed FFMP.
Respectfully submitted,
