SET-UP FOR FLOODING

Dear Members and Supporters,

Here we are today, in the same place as we were three years ago this month.
 
We are set up for flooding.

Tragically,  neighbors, fellow advocates, and friends in upstate NY will flood  - again, most likely this weekend - even if we do not in PA and NJ.  Some of our up river members are bracing for flooding this weekend.  People's homes will be damaged and destroyed.  Lives will be placed in harms way.  Communities will face devastation.  We know;  we remember.

IT WAS US.  We were there.  Some,  three times.  Some, ten times.  It depends on how close you live to the Reservoirs.

Perhaps flooding will only happen in the tailwaters this time;  but it is still flooding that is needless, deadly, damaging and caused by reservoirs spilling.

If we are at this point now, the odds of a main stem flood are great for sometime this summer.
All of this is deadly, needless and completely preventable.

What will it take for the DRBC and NYC to stop being criminally negligent ?  What will it take for the DRBC to start doing their jobs and protect the people and the very river itself from purposeful mismanagement of the Delaware RIver Reservoirs?

They have the proof that NYC can only use half of what they retain for their safe yield calculations and yet they ignore the safety and welfare of the citizens of NY State, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and yes, even Delaware.

A cynic would say they are actually doing it on purpose to force people from their homes and communities to gain control of their property without compensation.

It sound fantastical, I know.  But what are we left to think when educated , smart people continue to refuse to DO THEI R JOB and protect us all from flooding catastrophes?

How long will the DRBC close their eyes to the disasters they can prevent?

Please, as you watch and prepare - as you watch and pray - do one thing more.

Because these are the things we are left with... These are the things we can do.

To make them do the things they can do.

They CAN stop the madness and destruction.
