AS THE  RIVER FLOWS...
For members to express views, concerns or what's on your mind.

Attention Delaware River Residents, Businesses, Municipalities and Property Owners:

Enough is enough! Although we all love the river, we don’t want it in our houses or businesses.

Even though we are directly affected by the decisions of the people in the organizations and political bodies governingthe operation of the Delaware River, none of them directly represent those of us that live and work along theriver. Their flood plan principally is that of giving us better warning before a flood. Rather than make any realeffort to control flooding, these people want us to either move or raise our houses. Therefore, we have formedThe Delaware Riverside Conservancy, Inc. to help protect our property and our rights.

Our primary missionis to protect the Delaware River and the property in the immediate vicinity of the river from damage due toflooding and pollution. We intend to accomplish our goals through public relations and, if necessary, litigation. As you may have heard, we were the core group that was instrumental in filing the Torts Claim Notice(s) againstthe City of New York for negligent operation of their reservoirs preceding and during the April, 2005 flood. We are also investigating the operations at the other reservoirs. In addition, we have filed motions concerning the recent release of fly ash into the river by PPL’s Martins Creek plant so that we can be sure that the river and ourproperty are fully restored.

If the April, 2005 flooding of the Delaware River or the pollution caused by fly ash has in any way
adversely affected you or your organization and you would like to become a member of the DRC, please
download the membership form, complete and return, along with your $20 per person membership dues or $30.00 per family made payable to:

The Delaware Riverside Conservancy, Inc., P.O. Box #1, Stewartsville, NJ 08886

Please help us to help you!

This organization is non-profit and volunteer, however we have the hydrologist expense and we have purchased a DLP projector and screen to assist in giving presentations to various groups and political organizations more professionally. Your money goes for these expenses.

In addition, we need committee help. We presently have the following committees: Membership; Flood; Education (both public and legislative); Fund Raising; Port Captain; Pollution and the Web Site. Some committees need help. We also need volunteers with expertise in accounting, editing, marketing, public relations, engineering, law and research (looking up information). For instance, if anyone would like to gather information on the NYC water supply system and/or the reservoirs, aqueducts etc., it could be helpful. The Lehigh River, as well as the smaller feeders could use research as well.

If you feel you do not qualify for the above positions you can help just by attending various meetings to help convince the controlling organizations that we need flood control immediately. Get involved in reducing the flooding.
